So this week I have truly
learned the meaning of hard work and focus! Since there's only two weeks
(well, now one) before Christmas break I've decided to work extremely
hard so I have as small amount of homework as possible. I banned myself
from getting distracted on the computer, and when I got home from school
I immediately got to work. It was amazing how much I was able to get
done. It felt so good to work so hard and get things done. Shawn and
Brinai, your coming here is really motivating me to work hard, so thank
you!
This weekend was kind of a big one for me. I had my
dance recital, "La Fin De L'Ete". Don't ask me what it means. :) On
Friday we had rehearsal at the stage. We performed at the Department of
Fine Arts which is an interesting place. It's quite obvious that they
don't spend anything on their fine arts. It was a really weird building.
There was no dressing room and you had to go outside and downstairs to
the bathroom which had glass doors and windows. There was a surprisingly
big stage with wood floors and nails poking up (not the best for
dance), but it only seated about 140 people. We then had dress rehearsal
at 1:00 on Saturday which meant we were there from 1:00 to 9:00. It
made for a really long, hot, and sweaty day. I don't think it would have
been that bad except that it felt like a sauna for half the time! Oh
well, it's Cambodia. The show started at 7pm. It turned out to be an
excellent and really fun show. This is going to sound really vain so I'm
sorry, but it was fun to be the main part again and really be able to
dance! Mom and Dad invited some girls from the Khmer branches that I
know and one sister from the intl. branch. It was really fun to see them
there, and I'm glad they came (although I don't think they really got
it because they were all just sitting there while people were clapping
:). It was one, exhausting, but very fun day.
Church was also interesting today. After sacrament
meeting the primary president/teacher asked me if I could play the piano
and I said I could do the top hand. I was expecting to just play the
piano, but then after the opening exercises she comes over to me and
says the other teacher didn't come, so could I teach the lesson? I was
very surprised and unprepared, but somehow I ended up teaching a very
spontaneous lesson about the Priesthood. Thankfully I got the older kids
so they were very understanding and participated a lot. I actually
ended up enjoying it a lot and I think it turned out pretty well. Mom
and I decided afterwards that it will be no surprise when they call me
as a primary teacher in a couple of weeks! :) Oh goodness.
Not much else happened this week, so I'm going to
say joom riap lia now! Have a very Merry Christmas season filled with
lots of Josh Groban (at least for me)!!
